Peekaboo Organics is the result of pure maternal love. Are you a mother trying to feed her children vegetables? If yes, you will understand what Jessica Levison went through. Let’s find out more about Jessica’s story.

Jessica Levison, the creator of Peekaboo Organics, always loved ice cream. After graduating from Law School in 2005, she worked as an attorney, but ice cream always remained her passion. She founded an ice cream company on the side, Serendipity Creamery, based in Florida. Jessica spent several years managing her legal career and ice cream company simultaneously.

Fast forward a few years, Jessica got married and had kids. She always had difficulty getting her kids to eat their vegetables. However, her kids always loved ice cream, which gave Jessica the idea to combine the two; thus, she created Peekaboo Organics.

What Makes Peekaboo Unique?

Jessica Levison started Peekaboo Organics a year before appearing on Shark Tank. What makes Peekaboo organics unique is that it makes its ice cream with vegetables as an ingredient. The vegetables are unnoticeable in the ice cream. All ice-cream flavors are made using natural ingredients and are GMO-free.

Peekaboo Organics is also a socially aware company, donating a portion of its profits to Team No Kid Hungry, a non-profit that feeds deprived children. Peekaboo Organics ice cream can be bought at various stores such as Kroger, Safeway, and Wholefoods. It can also be bought on Amazon and online on the Peekaboo website.

The ice cream is available in several unique flavors such as Strawberry with carrots, Chocolate with Cauliflower, Vanilla with Zucchini, Mint Chip with Spinach, Cotton Candy with Beet, and Strawberry Sorbet with Tomato. Jessica also wanted to introduce vegan ice cream options, but her plans were set back due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The ice cream is priced between $10 and $15 per 14 oz carton.

How Did the Shark Tank Pitch Go?

Jessica Levison appeared on Shark Tank season 12, episode 8. She hoped to receive an $800,000 investment from the Sharks for her unique ice cream company, Peekaboo Organics. In return, she offered 8% equity of her company, totaling a $10 million valuation.

The episode began as Jessica asked the sharks to taste her ice cream samples and asked them to try to determine the unique ingredient. The sharks took a liking to the ice cream, after which Jessica shared her story. However, the sharks critiqued Jessica’s 10-million-dollar valuation since her company’s shares, in the past year, cost $450,000. Jessica countered this by stating that her products would be in 3000 stores by the end of the year and would generate $5 million in sales.

Most of the Sharks backed out from making a deal except for Lori Greiner and Kevin O’Leary, who made Jessica an offer. Lori offered to lend Jessica $800,000 at a 6% interest rate for 3 years and a 5% stake in her company. Kevin also had a similar offer. He also offered $800,000 as a 3-year loan and an 8% equity in her company. After hearing the Sharks’ offers, Jessica explained that she desired an equity partner instead of a loan and declined both proposals. As a result, Jessica walked away without an agreement with the Sharks.

In a later interview, Jessica stated she was ecstatic she got the opportunity to present her business before the sharks. But she wanted to stick to progressing her business without liability.

Is Peekaboo an Active Company?

Jessica has still managed to sustain her business, without agreeing to a deal with the sharks. Until July 2021, the company had an annual revenue of $3 million. After appearing on Shark Tank, Peekaboo Organics has reached 3000 stores and sells through their website. The company also plans to introduce low-fat products in many flavors.
