Handy Pan from Shark Tank

Handy Pan shark tank

Handy Pan is a company that makes kitchen tools like the pan. Handy Pan was created by Entrepreneurs Josh Conway and Adam Chaudry. Both the men came from strikingly different professions but created Handy Pan as a side business.

Conway and Chaudry are friends since childhood and have produced different, innovative, and exciting product ideas. Handy Pan was a unique idea that initially started off as just an idea scribbled on a napkin, but one that got stuck until Conway and Chaudry were determined to get onto the market.

It is a unique pan that has a strainer conveniently attached on its side. The strainer can be utilized to empty the pan from any remaining grease or liquid. The pan is a perfect product for when you want to boil pasta or any vegetables. With the handy pan, the task of using a separate instrument to strain water is eliminated, making your cooking time hassle-free.

Using the strainer is easy; all you must do is press the button on the side that lifts the strainer. Conway and Chaudry have also patented the design of Handy Pan. Before appearing on Shark Tank, the Handy Pan was not making impressive sales, with products worth $7,900 sold. The entrepreneurs justified this with not being well-versed with how to market Handy Pan properly. Handy Pan also failed to pave its way in retail.

Are They an Active Company?

The company is still up and running, and customers can purchase the product directly from their website. However, the product is displayed as out of stock for now.

How Did Their Shark Tank Pitch Go?

Conway and Chaudry introduced their product to the Sharks In season 13 of the show with an interesting presentation.  They walked in seeking an investment of $10,000 for 20% of equity. The sharks were amused by their offer, not so much by the product itself, as O’Leary did not believe the product would bring in any prominent sales in. Herjavec also thought their sales were not impressive. He thought this was the case as Conway and Chaudry already were doing day jobs and did not put in as much effort as needed.

The only Shark that decided to make an investment was Lori, who thought she had nothing to lose as the partners only asked for $10,000.

When the product was initially launched, it was well received by the market and appreciated for its simple and user-friendly design. The product was also featured in different renowned publications.

Our Review of Handy Pan

The Handy Pan comes across as a useful and up-to-the-minute product. However, in our opinion, there is a glaring drawback to the product. There is still a chance of spillage if you do not hold the pan at a specific angle.

However, if you ignore that, the Handy Pan can be utilized for multiple purposes. Whether you are making meat sauce or sauteing your vegetables, with the help of Handy Pan, you can get rid of any excess water or oil from the pan.

Some of the cons of Handy Pan include the following:

  • The Handy Pan is a little expensiveand might not bean economical choice for a lot of consumers.
  • The strainer is permanently attached to the pan, even when not in use.
  • The product is not widely availableand often appears to be out of stock.

Who is Handy Pan For?

Handy Pan is for anyone who likes to cook food and is on the hunt for a product that provides them with a simple kitchen experience without too much clutter.

Are There Any Alternatives?

Cooking utensils and tools are not a new invention;  there are plenty of alternatives present to the Handy Pan. From our research, we have found that the brand Elephant Pan also sells a pot that serves the same function, although it is pricier than Handy Pan.

Our Final Thoughts?

Handy Pan and its sales did not impress the Sharks the way Conway and Chaudry expected, but they did get a deal with Lori. So, it was not a complete loss for the partners. However, the product is functional and helpful, but if the partners had invested intelligently and profoundly in great marketing and clever advertisement, the sales would have been much different.

Having said that, if you are someone who likes to cook and are exhausted from separating your food from grease or any liquids, Handy Pan is just the solution you need. The problem might seem trivial; however, the solution Handy Pan provides is innovative. It would be useful if Handy Pan is sold through online retailers like Amazon because they can reach a completely different market of customers over there, consequently increasing their sales dramatically.

We believe that Handy Pan has great potential and does a good job in providing customers with convenience. But it is still a niche market, so that remains an issue for the company.
