Table 87 from Shark Tank

Table 87 is not just another pizza outlet. It is a pizzeria with a difference. It sells slices of coal oven pizza. Yes, slices, not whole pizzas.

And that’s not all. You can find this ultra-convenient pizza in more than 300 grocery stores. Plus, you have it delivered by mail to you. Imagine having pizza slices delivered via mail. Such convenience and quantity customization are unprecedented.

Most importantly, Table 87 is striving to revive the coal-fired pizza tradition. These tantalizing slices are notable for their intense flavor and rich strong taste.

Are They Still an Active Company?

Although the deal failed to finalize, the founder Cucco has grown the business deftly and steadily over the years since it appeared on Shark Tank. This pizza slice is now available in hundreds of grocery outlets including Stop and Shop, Whole Foods, Wegmanā€™s, and others. Most of the distribution is carried out towards the Mississippiā€™s east. However, Cucco plans on expanding his coal oven pizza slice brand throughout the country. They have also opened their 3rdĀ restaurant just recently. All 3 of these restaurants are located in Brooklyn.

The companyā€™s annual revenue stands at around $5 million.

How Did the Shark Tank Pitch Go?

Tom Cucco sought a $200,000 investment in return for a 10 percent stake in his business. After negotiations, the founder of Table 87 finally got $250,000 in return for 90 percent from Lori Greiner. Lori seems to be the right Shark for this deal since she is capable of marketing frozen pizza to all sorts of retailers.

Our Review of Table 87

Table 87 is geared toward those who donā€™t know how to cook or simply donā€™t have the time and energy to cook up a great pizza. Also, it is the ideal solution for those who donā€™t want a whole pizza.

Table Ā 87 pizza slice is a welcome break from frozen pizzas that taste like bland cardboard. Despite the continued tremendous proliferation of food variety, frozen pizza is one area that has seen no real improvement for eons. With the advent of Table 87 that has finally changed.

The most striking aspect of Table 87 is that it is sold by the slice. Since it is made in New York, you may have surmised (correctly) that it will be the size of a New York pizza slice.

Currently, the only flavor available in slice style is Margherita. Unfortunately, other flavors like prosciutto, mushroom and white truffle oil, pepperoni, and so on are available in the whole-pizza form only.

If you hate the texture and taste of frozen pizza, then this may be the solution you had been waiting for. Table 87 founder Thomas Cucco asserts that his method of cooking is different. This he claims is why the taste and texture of Table 87 are superior compared to ordinary frozen pizza. According to this pizza chef, the trick is to cook the pizza slice for no more than 2 minutes after which it should be frozen quickly. And we did find that the Table 87 pizza slice indeed tastes and feels better than run-of-the-mill frozen pizza that just tastes like dough.

The taste of Table 87 pizza is strong and agreeable. Most will agree that it is much better than the bland stuff called frozen pizza. However, we do wish that the topping was a bit fuller. That being said, it still outperforms mundane boring frozen pizza by a big margin. The taste is better.

The sauce tastes simply terrific. When cooked according to instructions, the crust turns out to be perfect. The taste is so deep, rich, and tantalizing that you will not have to add anything extra to make it taste better ā€“ the same cannot be said for tasteless frozen pizza. Itā€™s amazing how much flavor they pack into the sauce.

All you have to do is to preheat your oven to around 400 Fahrenheit and then bake the slice for 7 minutes. And you are done. The crust, taste, and texture will be simply scrumptious. It packs only 320 calories so you won’t have to feel too guilty about that.

1 slice may not sound like much. However, it does make for a filling snack. And once again, frozen (cardboard) pizza is no match for this pizza revolution that is long overdue.

Table 87 Pros

  • Exquisite flavor
  • Just 320 calories
  • Far superior to ordinary frozen pizza

Table 87 Cons

  • A bit thin
  • The whole pizza is not available
  • Pricey

Who is Table 87 for?

Table 87 is for anyone who cannot find the time or energy to cook a whole pizza. It is also meant for those who donā€™t want a whole pizza either. This could hence be a useful option for those who are restricting calories and donā€™t want to binge on a whole pizza. And to be honest, not many of us can resist the temptation of going after more slices when there is a whole pizza in front of us. So Table 87 is a great way to exercise portion control.

And the best part is that it tastes great. Hence, Table 87 is the ideal option for those who can’t stand the insipid dull stuff called frozen pizza.

Are There Any Alternatives?

You might think that plenty of alternatives are available. After all, there is no dearth of frozen pizza. However, none of them can beat the taste of Table 87 or even come close.

Our Final Thoughts

All in all, Table 87 is a great take on frozen pizza. Thankfully, pizza connoisseurs finally have something that will delight their taste buds. Table 87 tantalizes with its rich amazing taste and crispy-chewy texture ā€“ something that cannot be said for ordinary frozen pizza.
