Genius Juice from Shark Tank

Genius Juice shark tank

Genius Juice is an organic coconut smoothie made purely from coconut meat and coconut water. This is the world’s first strictly organic smoothie that can be consumed as a substitute for a complete meal. The juice is available in a variety of flavors: the original, turmeric, mocha, and vanilla cinnamon. This smoothie has reduced calories and is rich in nutrients making it a superfood.

Alex Bayer founded Genius Juice when he was trying to come up with a coconut-based beverage that was different from the rest. He and another family member decided to invest and get manufacturers from Thailand to take coconuts from a nearby plantation and extract both the meat and water from inside to make the smoothie.

The bestselling point of Genius Juice is that they use pure coconut and upcycle the husk to produce coconut charcoal for detoxification products. It also contains zero preservatives and uses freezing as a method for transportation without the juice going bad. The flavor is rich and has only 100 calories.

The taste is similar to a good coconut smoothie containing about 1000 calories, but Genius Juice has managed to maintain a good taste and keep the calorie count extremely low.

Before coming to Shark Tank, they had used Kickstarter and We Funder to raise money for their distribution. They had over 1300 locations and needed the investment from the Sharks to spend on manufacturing and marketing.

Are They Still an Active Company?

Yes, they are still active and in business. Their smoothies can be found on their website: Genius Juice.

How Did the Shark Tank Pitch Go?

Alex entered Shark Tank with an initial ask of $250,000 in exchange for 7% equity in his business.

He began his pitch in a fun song and dance to introduce the name of his brand. He then proceeded to hand out samples of his product’s different flavors to the Sharks to try. The Sharks tasted the smoothie and loved the taste. They were also very impressed when Alex mentioned the low number of calories it contains.

Moving on to sales, Genius Juice had been doing pretty well and was expected to make around $1 million in the current yearly cycle. Here the Sharks noticed a problem: they were not profitable enough.

With an investment of $1.3 million, they expect a good return, but that can only happen with more marketing and more distribution. Although the tough competition in the beverage industry and the fact that it’s meant to be frozen to increase the shelf life deterred two Sharks. However, Barbara, Mark, and Kevin, were still interested.

Kevin made the first offer but his offer contained a loan, which Alex wasn’t interested in. Moving on, Barbara offered him the investment, but she wanted 14%. Mark jumped in with Barbara’s dea, with the two making an offer of $500,000 in exchange for 25% of the company.

Alex likes the offer and accepts immediately, leaving Shark Tank with the money he needs.

Our Review of Genius Juice

After trying out Genius Juice, we noticed a few things.

The good news is that it was very refreshing and energizing. Although the coconut flavor was prominent, it tasted creamy and delicious at the same time. It was very fulfilling and was enough to satiate our appetites. It was available in many flavors such as regular coconut, turmeric, vanilla, vanilla cinnamon, chocolate, etc. The product was both vegan-friendly and could be kept in the freezer and stored for a long time.

On the other hand, it didn’t contain preservatives, so it couldn’t be kept outside for long. This was also not a good choice for people who weren’t a fan of coconuts at all. It was also slightly more expensive than other coconut water brands.

Pros of Genius Juice:

  • Entirely made from coconuts and is 100% organic.
  • Available in many flavors.
  • Sold in over 2400 stores along with their website, making purchasing them easier.
  • Good packaging.
  • Doesn’t contain any preservatives.
  • Promotes gut health and keeps your body energized. It can also be consumed in place of a complete meal.
  • Reduces environmental wastage by using the whole coconut.

Cons of Genius Juice:

  • It’s pricier than other coconut beverages.
  • Not suitable for people with coconut allergies.
  • Not suitable for people who don’t like coconut since it’s made from a coconut base.

Who Is Genius Juice for?

Genius Juice is perfect for people who love coconuts and want a healthier option that contains less sugar. It’s also a good option for people who want something quick and energizing to drink before work or when they’re too busy to make a full meal. It gives them the energy boost they need.

Are There Any Alternatives?

There are no perfect alternatives to Genius Juice. However, there are a few other options that are similar to it.

Vita Coco Coconut Water is an excellent alternative to Genius Juice. This coconut water possesses natural electrolytes and the necessary nutrients for your body. This water is also gluten-free and non-GMO. It can also be used as a cure for hangovers as it cleanses and detoxifies your body while providing you with the required energy. It can also be added to smoothies to increase the nutrition content.

On the other hand, it contains a few additives which is one of the ways it differs from Genius Juice. This water contains minerals and is vegan-friendly and gluten-free.

Our Final Thoughts

Although some people may be concerned with how it tastes since it only contains coconuts, Genius Juice has a delicious creamy flavor that will leave you wanting more. Since this product is available in more than four different flavors, people can choose whichever one they like.

Since this product is packed with vitamins and contains very few calories, it’s a good option for a cold drink in summer.
