No Mo-Stache from Shark Tank

No Mo-Stache shark tank

Hair removal has always been tedious and challenging for women, as they struggle with inconvenient waxing strips and razors, and the time-consuming job is difficult to carry out with their busy lifestyles.

The No Mo-Stache founder Gita Vasseghi wants to provide comfort and ease to women throughout America by providing a convenient solution to their hair removal problems and creating a portable kit that would make hair removal easy.

Gita has a career in fashion and managing showrooms for designers in Los Angeles. Her busy schedule always demanded frequent traveling, as she presented and served new lines to buyers and clients. She felt like being on her feet for most of the day left no room for a proper self-care session, and hair removal was one of those necessities that were compromised.

She created the No Mo-Stache hair-removal kit to help women like her and provided an easy and effective solution to take care of their bodies along with the hustle of their jobs.

What Do They Make?

The No Mo-Stache lip wax strips make it easy to remove hair with ease and comfort. The waxing strips need to be warmed up between your hands for 20 seconds, and then they can be applied and peeled easily to get smooth skin.

The wax strips come in travel-friendly packaging that you can carry in your purse easily. A small tin contains 24 wax strips, just enough for a travel getaway.

What Makes Them Unique?

The compact packaging of these hair removal products is easy to use and carry, and they are designed as safe and effective to cater to all your waxing and shaving needs.

The formula used to create waxing strips is gentle on the skin and exfoliates the skin while removing the hair roots, which gives a blemish-free and non-irritating finish when you are done. The packaging also includes an aloe cream which can be used post-wax to soothe your skin.

Are They Still an Active Company?

No Mo-Stache has been featured in several publications like SHAPE, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle, and the product is now available in over 10,000 retail stores worldwide. No Mo-Stache is available at Target, Ulta Beauty, and other online retailers like Revolve.

How Did the Shark Tank Pitch Go?

Jennifer Paschall and Gita Vasseghi came to the show seeking $100,000 for 25% equity in their business, No Mo-Stache.

They explained that No Mo-Stache was the only waxing kit on the market packaged for the customer’s convenience as it came in discreet tin packaging.

Bethenny asked how the No Mo-Stache was different from the Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Kit, and Jennifer and Gita replied that No Mo-Stache has a small packaging that doesn’t let everyone see that you are taking out a waxing kit and removing your hair in public.

Kevin asked whether the product was proprietary, and Jennifer replied that it was the only portable waxing kit available on the market. He wondered whether they had a patent on the product, and they replied that it wasn’t patented. Kevin asked why they were even on the show if there was nothing unique about the product.

Mark jumped in and asked about their sales. They replied that they had done $400,000 in sales in two years. That year, they were hoping to make $350,000 in sales. They were currently selling their products at Sephora, and their popularity rose when the product was featured in Real Simple Magazine.

Originally they were in all 200 Sephora stores, but now they are in just 60 stores. Lori commented that if the product had been selling well, Sephora would’ve kept them in all stores.

Kevin remarked that No Mo-Stache was a new marketing play on an old product. They had managed to get their product in some stores, which diversified their sales.

Bethenny tried waxing Mark’s arm with the strips and appreciated that the wax strips didn’t leave any gooey residue behind. This convinced a previously skeptical Kevin, and he immediately offered them $100,000 for 10% equity, but they would pay him back by a dollar per unit until he received $300,000, and then the royalty will go away.

Lori and Mark agreed that Kevin’s offer was great, and they should accept it.

Bethenny offered them $100,000 for 40% equity because she wanted to scale No Mo-Stache into a brand that provides a complete beauty kit for women besides just hair removal wax strips. She wanted to rebrand No Mo-Stache and bring it under the wing of Skinnygirl.

Lori liked Bethenny’s idea, and Bethenny invited her to come on board with her. Lori agreed and joined in on Bethenny’s offer.

Kevin defended his offer by saying that he wouldn’t ask Jennifer and Gita to rebrand their company, but Gita was interested in Lori and Bethenny’s offer and countered with 35% equity. Kevin said that he would drop his royalty to 75 cents. Jennifer and Gita said that Lori and Bethenny were asking for too much equity.

To put more pressure on Lori and Bethenny, Kevin dropped his royalty to 50 cents per unit for just 10% of the company.

Lori and Bethenny came up with another offer. They would give $100,000 for 35% equity and $1 royalty per unit until they got their money back, and then the royalty will go away.

Gita asked Lori to go up to $200,000 in royalty and bring the equity down to 25%. Kevin said that he would take that offer. Lori immediately accepted that deal, and the two entrepreneurs happily accepted Lori and Bethenny as their Shark partners.
