PhoneSoap from Shark Tank

PhoneSoap shark tank

PhoneSoap is a UV device for disinfecting your phone. The company behind the device informs us that phones are 18 times dirtier than public toilets. That’s because we touch our phones all the time without bothering to disinfect them regularly.

Hence, phones are far dirtier than most might think. This is where PhoneSoap comes in. Just pop your phone into this tan bed-like device for 10 minutes and your phone comes out as clean as brand new.

Are They Still an Active Company?

PhoneSoap is going strong and doing pretty well following their Shark Tank appearance. The brand has diversified into several different related products. Air purifiers are now part of the product range.

Soon after their Shark Tank appearance, Phone Soap commenced interesting products like the cleaning roller which is a convenient way of removing smudges from your phone to make it look really clean.

Annual sales were $13.5 million in 2021.

How Did the Shark Tank Pitch Go?

PhoneSoap founders Dan and Wesley sought an investment of $300,000 in return for a 7.5% stake in PhoneSoap.

Finally, after negotiations, Lori Greiner made a $300,000 investment in exchange for 10 percent brand equity.

Our Review of PhoneSoap

PhoneSoap is one of those devices that most may not have heard of or even thought necessary. However, it does serve a key purpose and seems to do it well.

PhoneSoap is designed to zap bacteria, viruses, and similar microscopic vileness with UV rays to banish them from festering your precious phone. Before going any further it is worth pointing out that this should not be seen as a solution to covid sanitization for your phone. Remember, that for the effects of UV rays on covid, results are mixed and so such solutions are not FDA approved.

Another key issue to note is that directly gazing at UV rays is dangerous and can harm your eyes seriously. Thankfully, PhoneSoap comes with a lid to prevent anyone from peering directly at UV rays. The device only works and generates UV rays when the lid is shut.

We are enamored with all our tech and fancy hi-fi gizmos. Phones in particular have a special place in our hearts. They likely live in your pocket or not too far away. Many don’t bother to think twice before reaching out for their phones. However, that’s because people are blissfully oblivious of one icky fact – phones are far dirtier than toilets.

One wonders how our phones got so messy. The answer is painfully obvious though. Our hands go to all sorts of places where we pick up germs and duly deposit them on our phones via our unwashed hands. To top it all off, we put our phones in a dark and warm place – our pockets – wonderful for allowing all these vile germs to run riot and proliferate. And that’s the story of our phones’ hygiene – or lack thereof. Think of the phone as a third hand that remains unwashed at all times. Gross.

But there is hope.

Enter the PhoneSoap.

This is the kind of device that people need but is clueless about. It is uncannily similar to a tanning bed – albeit of much smaller dimensions. Instead of tanning, it disinfects. Finally, your dirty phone will be rid of microscopic nastiness courtesy of this disinfection tool.

Someone should have thought of this earlier. With this device at your disposal, your phone goes from super filthy down to just 99.99 percent of its bacterial count. You can feel good about your phone once more.

A UV bath of just 10 minutes is enough to make your phone cleaner than what it was when you unpacked it.

Thankfully, the UV rays are completely safe for your phone. It would be a good idea to leave the device on for some time with the lid closed since that will kill any germs that remain on the bed after you are done sanitizing your phone.

Be sure to keep in mind that this is not an answer to covid. Don’t expect your phone to be covid-free after immersion.

This is a way better answer to alcohol wipes for cleaning your phone. Just in case you didn’t know, alcohol wipes are not meant to be used on phones since this is a chemically harsh treatment that can damage your phone. But not PhoneSoap. Since there are no chemicals involved, it is phone-safe. The UV rays can reach each nook and cranny of your less-than-clean phone. So you won’t have to fret over germs lurking in the darkest most inaccessible recesses of your phone.

Most people will be just fine with the baseline PhoneSoap version that sanitizes in just 10 minutes.

The PhoneSoap Pro boasts twice as much UV light generation capacity as the regular PhoneSoap. Hence, it can be sanitized in 5 minutes if you are in a hurry.

For people who are on the go, PhoneSoap Wireless will be your best bet. It is powered by Qi-standard wireless charging.

All PhoneSoap versions boast good construction and are available in interesting colors like black, aqua, and gold.
